First off, can’t believe it that we’re this close to Christmas and that also means that 2015 is almost coming to an end! Not quite sure how this year whizzed me by that quickly but I know that I always look forward to those year end gatherings. If you’re panicking out on what to wear to gatherings or like me who needs no reason to shop, you’re not alone!
We all know that there are usually lots of things to fuss over during this festive season and what to wear is usually one of them. But all thanks to ALDO Singapore, shopping is rather fuss free since it’s just a few clicks away.
And if you’re like me who thinks that ALDO items are usually office wear or a bit on the serious note, their new collection would prove you wrong, least it did for me. I’ve put together 3 looks that I think would be appropriate for the festivity yet doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket.
*Black dress/tops isn’t from ALDO just because I’m sure all of us would have owned a basic black outfit or any black top & bottom would do well too.
POWER UP, LADY
OH THOSE GIRLY DATES
FOR A HAPPY MOMENT
I had the privilege of being my best friend’s bride’s maid so I know how difficult it was to choose and settle on a bridesmaid dress due to the differences in taste (design/colour/material), even body shape and budget. But at the end of the day, when we look back at the photos during the wedding day, the vision of a fun filled wedding is undeniably shown. The couple had decided that it would be a POLKADOTS theme (which definitely tells much about how fun it’ll already be) quite unlike the tradition of sweet/romantic. The girls had blouses with while the guys had bow-ties with dotted prints.
I’ve put together a list of what to lookout for when choosing the bridesmaid dresses. Now start shopping, have loads of fun and look forward to that all important day!
DESIGN OF THE DRESS
– It’s tough choosing the right colour, but you generally can’t go wrong with ‘safe’ colours like blue or black, but of course go ahead and be adventurous if the bride gives her thumbs up, go ahead and have some fun.
– A tip on deciding the colour palette for the bridesmaid dress is by having a look at the wedding invitation card or the wedding decorations.
– You’ll want an outfit that compliments the bride and yet not looking hideous in the dress; getting the right kind of compliment would be ideal.
PRACTICALITY OF THE DRESS
– You wouldn’t want to be in a dress that hinders too much as most of the time you’re needed to help the bride.
– Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the dress could be worn even after the wedding itself (think LBD or 2 piece outfit); think cost effectiveness.
– At the same time, having a dress that suits the tropical weather right here in Singapore so that you wouldn’t be caught in a situation where comfort is compromised.
As much as I like how the intricate the details of a traditional baju kurong looks like but at the same time I agree that with a tasteful twist on traditionally looking clothes, it can turn out to be wearable and not forgetting making a fashion statement. Since these clothes were designed with a better understanding of proportion and materials suited for our climate (think hot Singapore), so I believe these modern pairings of clothes would definitely be a better fit for ladies!
The latest collection from ZALORA features a wide range of clothes is out to prove that you can look fashionable yet maintaining the need of traditionally ket items in the wardrobe. I have put together a series of clothes and hope you’ll like what I picked out based on another kind of perspective.
Happy Hari Raya shopping and don’t forget to tag #ZALORASg on your Outfit of the Day (#ootd) as I would love to see how you style the pieces too.
With staple items, you can mix and match them to your needs. Who says being on budget has got to compromise on looks; you’re still looking fabulous! And if I were to choose 1 item out of the range that I picked out, that would have to be the White blouse with extended sleeves shown at the very first look.
I choose a more feminine approach with this range, even though it isn’t quite my personality but I actually like some of these pieces featured.
Can I say that I LOVE ALL THE COLOURS in this range! Even though I might not celebrate the occasion, but I can totally see myself in these (if there’s a ever a day that I’d need to). No doubt the fact that you’ll make quite an entrance and bold statement with such happy colours!
I’d be completely honest, tried to come up with 101 reasons as to why you should take a look at River Island Women’s clothes, but I failed terribly – all because one doesn’t need any reason to shop, right? So if you take a peek at my cupboard, you’ll notice that my clothes are mostly made up of prints but these days, I’ve been on a lookout for solids too. Gave thought about it, so you can take away my prints but colour isn’t something that I can compromise on. I need to have either or – prints or colour!
I knew I had to sneak in my favourite pieces out of the whole collection even though it doesn’t seem to belong to the same category. That marble print sweatshirt and floral print dress is definitely up on my list – I LOVE IT! This is quite out of the typical marble swirls that usually comes in grey/white, with a hint of colour mixed in (don’t we all need some colour in our lives?), definitely is a statement making sweatshirt. I have something similar to that floral top too, which is made up of galaxy prints that always get me the compliment, so I thought this would do the same for you too. To top it off, these 2 pieces are very reasonably priced.
Start shopping, xxx!
Hands up if you’re totally into online shopping and especially if there is great discounts involved! Having our very own version of GOSF right here in Singapore, you can rest assure that you’re getting a bang for every buck spent and where can that savings go to; of course to more shopping right? Being new to the term GOSF (Great Online Shopping Festival), I was told that it’s has very similar concepts to Cyber Monday or Black Friday where a few online shopping sites come together and offer you heavy discounts for a day but right here on my very own GOSF in Singapore, we have a total of 3 days of madness (02 – 04 Feb 2015) for you to shop ’til you drop!
With that I bring you another good news which is ZALORA would be having discounts on not only their latest CNY collection which I must have a special mention to that because this is their largest collection till date with a design team based in Singapore. This range of clothes are exclusively for ZALORA and great thoughts have been put into understanding the fashion trends. But at the same time this GOSF offer also applies to the other range of extensive items on their site so I am sure there is at least something for everyone.
Indeed it is time to get your wallet and fingers ready for these 3 days of shopping spree galore – I can only say, may the fastest fingers win that awesome item that you’ve been eyeing.
Well, hello December! Which means that it’s the CHRISTMAS season and the year end parties is also approaching but if you’re mulled over what to wear for those 101 parties (yes, you party girl!), fret not, despite having a limited amount of clothes. I can safely say that there is nothing the LBD (Little Black Dress) can’t match up to – which has been proved to be versatile enough for any occasion. To jazz things up a bit, you know you can always rely on nice accessories and with a statement making piece; it’s good enough to get things on roll. Have I also mentioned that it’s the Christmas season, so no better reason to treat oneself on nice and good quality accessories like those from Aldo right? These Aldo women’s accessories are available on Zalora and for a fuss free shopping experience, getting them online is way better than having to jostle with the crowd. With new items added to the selection of accessories, there is a piece out there for everyone, be it the sweet look or sophisticated outfit that you’re looking to match it. I have put together 3 looks in which some have repeated clothing items but with fun accessories, they can give off a different vibe and different. Never underestimate how accessories can turn a simple top to something fun, but in all – HAPPY SHOPPING! Blessed Christmas to everyone and have a great time with family and friends during this festive mood of giving; never forget the reason for CHRISTMAS either – for He is the reason for this season!
If you’re like me on how I used to think backpacks were meant to be for guys or how they were fitted only with outfits that were more tomboyish; you’re not alone. But now with a wider range of styles and colours, BACKPACKS FOR WOMEN are no longer subjected to just plain black ones. To me I see backpacks as:
1. Convenience – With the ability to free up my hands and not having to fuss over things weighing over my arms. Being the forgetful person, I love how I know that it’s safely on my shoulders without having to leave things lying around; and later scramble to find it back. With my hands free up, navigating within a crowd is also easier.
2. Comfort – Having an even distribution of the bag’s load on my shoulders and body; knowing that I will not end up with an aching either side of my shoulders.
3. Versatile – From roughing it out to those sweet dates, a backpack is never shy of making a fashion statement that compliments any outfit put together. A nice backpack can also bring out your personality in many ways with various shapes and colours for every occasion.
Here’s a range of styles with a backpack tagged for every occasion, hope it inspires you in some way or another.
